A new poll from the Pew Research Center shows Romney ”has drawn even with Obama in the presidential race among registered voters” and now holds a 49% to 45% edge over the President.

The Newsweek/Daily Beast Poll was conducted with a representative sample of the national population with 918 likely voters.
Highlights:
* 66 percent approve of how Obama dealt with the Egypt crisis. (Obama’s overall approval rating is at 50 percent.)
* Only 37 percent believe the GOP puts forward positive proposals, versus 49 percent who believe the party is primarily interested in criticizing Obama.
